Everything you need to get the most out of Margineer — from your first upload to reading every insight.
Margineer is profit intelligence for manufacturers. It takes the financial and operating figures you already keep and turns them into plain-English answers: which products actually make money, where margin and cash are leaking, and what to do next — plus interactive tools for pricing, reordering, cashflow and planning.
Every screen opens with a plain-English insight, so you never need a finance background to understand what's going on.
In your first week, an onboarding specialist will call to introduce themselves and book a short Microsoft Teams meeting to walk you through the product and gather your figures. Over the following weeks we work out the true cost and margin of each of your products, build and check your Margineer, and finish with a go-live review. You're live within about four weeks — and using the product the whole time.
Margineer works from a simple spreadsheet you fill in each month. Download it from the app (the CSV template button), or use the Excel template your specialist provided during setup.
The workbook has a tab for each area. Fill the yellow cells; the grey cells calculate themselves:
If a column or value can't be read, Margineer shows exactly which cell needs attention. Common fixes: make sure the headings match the template, remove $ signs and commas, and check every product row has a name. Correct the file and upload again.
Your month at a glance: revenue, gross profit, blended margin and your top profit driver, with a plain-English summary. The margin table shows each product's fully-costed margin (materials + labour + freight + a share of overheads) and flags anything thin or below cost. Use the stress test to see how a rise in a chosen product's input costs hits its margin, and what-if to test a new price.
Work back to the price you need to hit a target margin, from your raw material, freight and labour costs — including overhead and volume breaks.
Shows how much stock to order for the sales you expect, and what it will cost — so you don't run short or tie up cash.
The discount & price-rise guardrail shows the real cost of a discount and the room a price rise gives you, in plain English. The GST & tax set-aside estimates what to park each month. Break-even shows the sales you need just to cover overheads.
A plain-English read on your cash position, then a daily forecaster you can edit. Test 30/60/90 days, enter your own money in and out, and see your lowest projected point before it arrives. It also shows your cash conversion cycle — the days between paying suppliers and getting paid — and the funding that ties up.
See where revenue comes from, and use the rolling 12-month chart — slide it from actuals into forecast. In the Revenue by product grid, type your sales forecast into any month and watch it flow into the chart, giving you a live actuals-plus-forecast view.
Click PDF report in the top toolbar. Margineer builds a branded summary of all tabs — insights, key figures and tables — ready to send to your accountant or the bank.
Click Excel report for a workbook with a summary sheet plus one sheet per tab — the raw numbers to work with.
